Sri Aurobindo's monism has many similarities with Schelling in his work Bruno

ukmalayalee.com GIRIJA SHETTAR (Geethanjali and Vandanam fame) was born and brought up in England the daughter of an Indian father and British mother. She is a multi-faceted personality who, after leaving school, starred in some successful Indian films…
Her most recent work was an UK independent film Slide Away (2007), exploring the themes of death and immortality. Despite being offered further roles, including from the directors of Geethanjali (Mani Ratnam) and Vandanam (Priya Darshan), and from television companies to host various shows, Girija left the field to follow other interests.
She completed a doctoral thesis on the integral yoga philosophy of Sri Aurobindo, a field she is involved in on a practical basis too, spending as much time as possible at the Sri Aurobindo Ashram in Pondicherry and at the related idealistic community of Auroville. She is based in London and is a writer and a poet.

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "A thorough inquiry is a top priority":
"When a top functionary after three and half decades of stay says, “I decided to write about Sri Aurobindo, first, because I find him tremendously interesting,”...... the whole genesis of the book and the complicity of the present Ashram officials in it, therefore, is a top priority".

This is brilliant, intuitive, succinct and yet encapsulates the gist of all that need be said on this controversy. It bares all and is entirely convincing. This is the LAST WORD and clearly the best and most convincing one. Tusarji you have uttered the MANTRA that is the REVELATION. Posted by Anonymous to Savitri Era at

There is nothing for me to justify; I have just stated the facts. You come to read and even care to comment because Sat-Heehs uses “abrasive language” and Ulrich Mohrhoff's “derisive comment.” Let’s face it; it is the man-bites-dog syndrome. We can’t hide anything from Sri Aurobindo; he knows it well. [TNM] Posted by Tusar N Mohapatra to Savitri Era Open Forum at 12:43 AM, April 04, 2010

Rest assured that the contest is meant exclusively for practitioners of Integral Yoga. During meditation you observe your consciousness soaring upwards. Here you measure how far it plumbs the depths. Like a vocalist one must be aware of one’s range. After all,

Must descend himself into clay
And the burden of earthly nature bear
And tread the dolorous way.”

Sri Aurobindo’s thoughts went far beyond the limits of mundane materialism

Symbolism in modern art Calcutta Telegraph BOOK RELEASE
April 21 at Sri Aurobindo Bhavan, 8 Shakespeare Sarani; 6.15 pm: Dr Amalendu Dey will formally release The Linguistic Atom and The Origin of Language.
letters to the editor 19 April 2010 Prophet of transformation
SIR, ~ This is with reference to Claude Arpi’s article, “Prophet of Humanism” (15 April). Let me first thank you for commemorating the day of Sri Aurobindo’s arrival in Pondicherry.
However, I have an issue with depicting Sri Aurobindo as a prophet of humanism. In his  thought, man is only a transitory being and not the “Ultimate” in the chain of evolution. He has constantly tried through his yogic sadhana to bring down the super conscious to the mundane level and lift human consciousness to higher pedestals, indeed to reach the “Ultimate”, the Parabrahma of our Vedas and Upanishads. He dealt with human existence in all its dimensions ~ the material, the  spiritual and the vital.
Even in seclusion, he continuously tried, through correspondence, to transform the lives of his disciples and  make them ready for the descent of the higher consciousness and bring them into the process of conscious evolution.
  His Ashram in
Pondicherry is also a case in point. His writings on a bewildering variety of subjects ~ from politics to education and personal conduct of life ~ are all intended to transform the personal, social, national and global facets.
He is truly a prophet of transformation. Humanism implies in a general sense the aspects of life, i.e. that is in the mundane levels. In the literary context it began with the 14th century Renaissance in
Italy, involving grammar, rhetoric, history, moral philosophy and poetry. It was a reaction to the all-pervasive ecclesiasticism of the Middle Ages.
Sri Aurobindo’s thoughts went far beyond the limits of mundane materialism in which humanity is hopelessly entrapped. His philosophy signified the slow but inevitable descent of divine consciousness into this Earth. Yours, etc., Parthapratim Ray, Kolkata, 17 April.

Comment posted by RY Deshpande Re: RYD’s sly and insidious Method... An Open Dialogue on The Lives of Sri Aurobindo
Today it is exactly one year when the idea of a possible dialogue was mooted. It is unfortunate that it didn’t materialise. The positions have now got so much hardened—witness for instance AV Today August 2009, some interviews on the subject—that perhaps only a miracle might work out a miracle.
As there is really nothing confidential in these frank exchanges made in a liberal spirit, on this anniversary of the proposal I'm putting them on the Mirror of Tomorrow. If Rich wishes, he can put his version on the sciy or related sites. ~ RYD
The provocation for the forming of the association is the disenchantment among the inmates of the Ashram over the "lack of transparency, accountability and democracy" in the running of the Ashram. The Ashram management however remained tightlipped on the causes. Management sources told The Indian Express that the expulsions were related to the maintenance of discipline in the Ashram. About Saaba
Sri Aurobindo Ashram Beneficiaries Association was founded in the year 1997 with a group of inmates and devotees of Sri Aurobindo Ashram. Kamal Dora, Srikant Jivarajani, Patit Pavan Ghosh, Vairu Kannu and several others were some of the founder members of the Association. The Association had taken up the cause of exposing various atrocities taking place in Sri Aurobindo Ashram at the instance of the Trustees and their hencmen. The Trustees had allowed tampering of Sri Aurobindo's writings in the name of textual editing, restoration of Master's original writings and had handed over such sensitive work to Sri Aurobindo Archves & Research Department headed by a group of foreigners including Peter Heehs & Richard Hartz. 4:20 PM Monday 5 January 2009
